Flavonoids 101
Flavonoids 101

Flavonoids are a diverse group of plant compounds involved in pigmentation, protection, signaling, and other ecological functions. Based on Russ Hudson's The Formidable Book of Flavonoids, this introductory course explores what flavonoids are, how plants use them, where they appear in food and commerce, and how the human body consumes and metabolizes them. Learners then study prominent flavonoids found in cannabis, examine medical and therapeutic research, and explore synergy and cannabis as a flavonoid-producing plant.

Learn how flavonoids contribute to plant color, protection, ecology, food, commerce, human metabolism, and therapeutic research. The course also examines prominent flavonoids found in cannabis and is based on Russ Hudson’s The Formidable Book of Flavonoids.

Terpenes 101
Terpenes 101

Terpenes are aromatic compounds that contribute to the scent and character of cannabis and countless other plants. Built on Russ Hudson's The Big Book of Terps, this introductory course examines what terpenes are, why organisms produce them, and how they appear in plant ecology, consumer products, food, and scientific research.

Across seven instructional modules, learners explore the biological roles of terpenes in plants, terpene nomenclature and production, human perception and metabolism, commercial and industrial uses, medical and therapeutic research, and the ten most prevalent terpenes in cannabis. The course closes by comparing terpenes and cannabinoids and examining polypharmacology, the entourage effect, and synergy.

Explore the science of terpenes, including their ecological roles in plants, how humans perceive and metabolize them, their commercial and medical applications, and the most prevalent terpenes found in cannabis. The course is based on Russ Hudson’s The Big Book of Terps.
