Terpenes 201

t201-s01-big-book-of-terps.png

An advanced continuation of Terpenes 101, this course examines terpene chemistry with an emphasis on Cannabis sativa. Learners explore MVA and MEP biosynthesis pathways, terpene classes and functional groups, structural and stereochemical variation, degradation and oxidation, storage and formulation, analytical methods, chemotyping, and regulatory and safety considerations. Applied work includes checkpoint quizzes, a terpene origin map, a 3D conformer video, terpene stability analysis, and laboratory scenarios involving chromatographic and mass-spectrometric techniques.

Terpenes 101 is required before enrolling in Terpenes 201. Learners with equivalent prior knowledge may contact RC-RV to request an exception. Enrollment is finalized after prerequisite verification.

• Explain terpene biosynthesis through the MVA and MEP pathways.

• Analyze terpene classes, structures, functional groups, and stereochemical relationships.

• Evaluate degradation, oxidation, stability, storage, and formulation considerations.

• Interpret analytical methods, chromatographic fingerprints, and chemotypes.

• Apply regulatory, occupational exposure, and allergenicity concepts to laboratory and product-development scenarios.

Designed for medical and retail dispensary staff, cultivation professionals, medical cannabis clinicians, product developers, laboratory professionals, and other learners seeking advanced technical training in terpene chemistry and analysis.

Successful completion earns the Certificate in Advanced Cannabis Terpene Science. Learners who complete all four courses also earn the Certificate in Cannabis Secondary Metabolite Science.
Learners who purchase as a single course will receive access for six months from the date of purchase. If purchased as part of the Cannabis Secondary Metabolite Science bundle, then you will have 6 months of access beginning upon completion of Terpenes 101.
All required course materials are provided online. Enrolled learners may purchase Russ Hudson's related terpene textbook at discounted student pricing if they would like a personal copy.
Terpenes 101 is required for most learners. Prospective students with equivalent prior knowledge may contact RC-RV to request a prerequisite exception before enrolling.
